Featuring a battle of high-profile quarterbacks, Sunday’s big market NFC East clash between the Giants and Eagles put up strong numbers on NBC.
The Eagles’ win over the Giants earned drew a 13.9 final rating and 23.204 million viewers on NBC, up 31% in ratings and 34% in viewership from Week 11 last year (PHI/CHI: 10.6, 17.330 mil), and up 20% in both compared to Week 11 in 2008 (DAL/WSH: 11.6, 19.272 mil).
Giants/Eagles ranks as the fourth-highest rated, fourth-most viewed NFL telecast of the season on NBC (12 telecasts).
This is the seventh time in just eleven weeks that NBC has topped 20 million viewers for NFL coverage, matching last year’s full-season total.
Sunday’s telecast was the top primetime program of the week on broadcast in ratings and viewership, as well as all key adult and male demographics — including adults 18-49 (8.8).
That said, it not even the top NFL telecast of the day — trailing the Colts/Patriots national window on CBS (14.2, 23.596 mil). This is the tenth time in eleven weeks, and 19th time in the past 20 NFL weeks dating back to last season, that Sunday Night Football has trailed the national window.
Through Week 11, NBC is averaging a 12.9 rating and 21.5 million viewers for NFL coverage, up 9% in ratings and 10% in viewership from last year (11.8, 19.6 mil), and up 28% and 31%, respectively, from 2008 (10.1, 16.4 mil).
This is the highest average viewership for any primetime NFL package since 1996.
