ABC earned its biggest college football audience of the season for last week’s edition of Saturday Night Football.
Regional action featuring Oregon/USC drew a 4.7 final rating and 7.645 million viewers on ABC last Saturday night, up 12% in ratings and viewership from last year (USC/ORE*: 4.2, 6.833 mil), but down 27% and 26%, respectively, from 2008 (PSU/OSU: 6.4, 10.367 mil).
This marks the most-viewed college football telecast of the season on ABC, edging the previous high set by the September 18 edition of Saturday Night Football (7.528 mil).
The season high comes despite competition from Game 3 of the 2010 World Series on FOX (6.7, 11.460 mil).
Overall, Saturday’s regional action ranks as the fifth most-viewed college football telecast of the season — behind only Boise State/Virgnia Tech on ESPN Labor Day (9.888 mil), Florida/Alabama on CBS October 2 (8.595 mil), Alabama/Arkansas on CBS September 25 (8.148 mil), and Alabama/South Carolina on CBS October 9 (7.662 mil).
