With Tiger Woods in contention, ratings surged for the Chevron World Challenge on NBC.
Final round coverage of the Chevron World Challenge, in which Woods lost in a playoff to Graeme McDowell, drew a 2.4 final rating and 3.880 million viewers on NBC Sunday afternoon — up 200% and 228%, respectively, from last year (0.8, 1.183 mil).
Woods did not play in the event either last year or in 2008. He won the 2007 event, with final round coverage that year drawing a 1.9 final rating.
Excluding majors, the 2.4 is the largest rating for any PGA Tour telecast since the final round of The Memorial on CBS in June (2.8).
Saturday’s third round action drew a 1.6 final rating and 2.389 million viewers, up 167% and 161%, respectively, from last year (0.6, 914,000).
