The NHL’s ‘Hockey Day in America’ will feature a full day of coverage on NBC.
NBC is scheduled to air ‘Hockey Day in America’ coverage from 12-6 PM ET on February 20, according to the network’s upcoming sports schedule.
Generally, NBC sets aside only two-and-a-half hours for NHL coverage. Since reacquiring rights to the league, NBC has never aired an NHL doubleheader in the regular season or playoffs.
NBC and the NHL announced Hockey Day in America in June, as part of the league’s Hockey Weekend Across America.
An NHL press release described ‘Hockey Day’ as a “day-long event” that “will celebrate hockey with a slate of NHL games that are scheduled to include Philadelphia, New York Rangers, Washington, Buffalo, Detroit, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Boston.”
The Hockey Day schedule features Capitals/Sabres, Flyers/Rangers, Red Wings/Wild, and Penguins/Blackhawks. In addition, Canadiens will play the Flames in an outdoor game scheduled for Versus.
