For the fifth time in as many games this season, ABC scored a double-digit increase in ratings and viewership for NBA coverage.
The Celtics’ win over the Magic earned a 2.3 final rating and 3.711 million viewers on ABC last Sunday, up 44% in ratings and 49% in viewership from the same matchup last year (ORL/BOS: 1.6, 2.484M).
Excluding games on cable, the 2.3 rating is the highest for a nationally televised NBA game on Super Bowl Sunday since the 2001-02 season.
The game drew the top non-NFL audience of the weekend on broadcast.
The first five NBA games on ABC this season have had increases of at least 20% in ratings and viewership, with four of the five games up by at least 39% in both categories.
