Ratings and viewership dropped by double-digits for the latest chapter of the Penguins/Capitals rivalry on NBC.
Last Sunday’s Penguins/Capitals game earned a 0.8 final rating and 1.296 million viewers on NBC, down 27% in ratings and 24% in viewership from the same matchup last year (PIT/WSH: 1.1, 1.701M).
Penguins star Sidney Crosby did not play in Sunday’s game. Keep in mind the main attraction of the Penguins/Capitals rivalry is the head-to-head matchup of Crosby and the Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin.
This is the second time in three NHL telecasts this season that NBC has failed to attract at least 1% of U.S. television households.
