NBC did not draw spectacular numbers for Sunday’s Hockey Night in America telecast, but the numbers were still better than average.
NBC earned a 1.2 overnight rating for regional NHL action featuring Rangers/Flyers in 54% of TV markets Sunday afternoon, the first half of a rare NHL doubleheader on broadcast.
The early window also included Red Wings/Wild in 40% of TV markets and Capitals/Sabres in 6% of markets.
In the late game, the Blackhawks’ overtime win over the Penguins also earned a 1.2 overnight.
The telecasts earned the highest overnights of the season for indoor NHL coverage on NBC.
For some perspective, NBC drew at least a 1.2 overnight five times during the 2009-10 regular season.
