Like Sunday’s other marquee sporting event, the NBA All-Star Game, the Daytona 500 experienced big increases in some of the nation’s top television markets.
Ratings for the Daytona 500 improved by double-digits in nine of the nation’s top ten television markets, including increases of over 30% in the top three — New York (4.1, up 32%), Los Angeles (4.1, up 46%) and Chicago (5.8, up 61%).
The race was up 19% in #4 market Philadelphia (7.0), 18% in #5 market Dallas (7.2), 21% in #6 market San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose (4.7), and 20% in #7 market Boston (4.8).
FOX did not include the ratings from the two other top ten markets that had increases.
Dayton, OH, was the top market for Sunday’s race, with a 20.4. Greensboro, NC, ranked a close second (20.1).
