What was nearly the fourth #8 over #1 upset in NBA Playoff history set a viewership record on NBA TV Wednesday night.
Wednesday’s Grizzlies/Spurs Game 5 earned a 0.52 U.S. rating and 835,000 viewers on NBA TV. The Spurs’ win ranks as the most-viewed telecast on NBA TV since becoming a Nielsen rated network last year.
Game 5 more than doubled ESPN’s Angels/Athletics MLB game in viewership Wednesday night, and NBA TV outdrew ESPN in primetime by 38%. Keep in mind ESPN is in nearly twice as many homes as NBA TV.
Overall, NBA TV outdrew ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNews, MLB Network and NFL Network, among others, Wednesday night.
Also on NBA TV, Monday’s Trail Blazers/Mavericks Game 5 earned a 0.3 U.S. rating and 416,000 viewers. Tuesday’s Hawks/Magic Game 5 drew a 0.3 and 373,000.
