The highest rated team in hockey is staying put on the recently rebranded Root Sports.
Root Sports will televise Penguins games through the 2028-29 season, it was announced earlier this week. The Penguins are already in their 25th season with Root Sports, which was formerly FSN Pittsburgh.
The deal calls for Root Sports to televise at least 70 regular season games per season, in addition to postseason games.
The Penguins have averaged the highest local regular season rating of any NHL team in each of the past four seasons, including a record 8.68 rating during the 2010-11 season.
