Though both teams were ranked in the Top 25, last Saturday’s game between #14 Arkansas and #3 Alabama was a dud in the ratings.
Alabama’s 24-point win over Arkansas earned a 2.9 final rating and 4.726 million viewers on CBS last Saturday, down 44% in ratings and 42% in viewership from last year (ALA/ARK: 5.2, 8.148M), but up 21% and 29%, respectively, from 2009 (ARK/ALA: 2.4, 3.655M).
In last year’s game, #1 Alabama edged #10 Arkansas by four points. Two years ago, #3 Alabama defeated unranked Arkansas by 28.
The game drew a lower rating than all three college football telecasts on ABC last Saturday.
