The slower-than-usual start to the MLB postseason continued Sunday night as the Cardinals/Phillies series suffered a second-straight double-digit decline from last year.
Sunday’s Game 2 between the Cardinals and Phillies earned a 2.3 U.S. rating and 3.749 million viewers on TBS Sunday night, down 23% in ratings and 22% in viewership from the comparable game on the third day of last year’s postseason (ATL/SF G2: 3.0, 4.774M), and down 30% and 26%, respectively, from 2009 (BOS/LAA G2: 3.3, 5.069M).
The 2010 and 2009 games aired at 9:30 PM on Friday nights. Versus the comparable Sunday night game last year (PHI/CIN G3: 2.8, 4.653M), Game 2 dropped by 18% in ratings and 19% in viewership.
Unlike other games this postseason, Sunday’s Game 2 did not face competition from other postseason action.
