The numbers were not particularly impressive, but ESPN had a slight increase for Monday’s Chiefs/Patriots game.
The Week 11 edition of Monday Night Football, pitting the sub-.500 Chiefs against the Patriots, earned a 8.5 overnight rating on ESPN — up 2% from Week 11 last year (DEN/SD: 8.3), but down 3% from Week 11 in 2009 (TEN/HOU: 8.8).
This marks just the fifth time this season that overnight ratings have increased for Monday Night Football (twelve telecasts).
Despite the increase, the Patriots’ 31-point win ranks as the fourth-lowest rated Monday Night Football telecast of the season in the metered markets.
So far this season, six Monday Night Football telecasts have failed to draw at least 9% of U.S. metered market homes, topping last year’s full season total of five.
