The NFL announced the 2012 preseason TV schedule Wednesday, with arguably the only notable item being the return of the Hall of Fame Game to NFL Network.
The 2012 NFL Hall of Fame Game will air on NFL Network August 5, the first time since 2007 the season’s unofficial opener has aired on the network.
This year’s Hall of Fame Game will be the first in two years. Last year’s edition was canceled due to the owners’ lockout of players.
The rest of the preseason TV schedule begins August 9, with Packers/Chargers on ESPN — the first of four games on the network.
FOX will televise the first of its three games a week later, as the Bengals face the Falcons. NBC opens its two-game Sunday night schedule with Colts/Steelers on August 19. The defending champion Giants will make their only preseason TV appearance on August 24 against the Bears, the first of two games on CBS.
