As the networks with by far the largest schedules, FOX and CBS will not surprisingly televise several marquee matchups during the 2012-13 NFL regular season.
The NFL national window — typically the highest rated and most-viewed television program of any given week — has an embarrassment of riches to start the season.
The 49ers take on the Packers in a battle of resurgent storied franchises in Week 1 (FOX), followed by the Jets and their high-profile stars against the Steelers in Week 2 (CBS) and the scandal-marred Saints taking on the Packers in Week 3 (FOX).
Peyton Manning and the Broncos take on Tom Brady and the Patriots (CBS) in Week 5, followed by an NFC title game rematch between the Giants and 49ers in Week 6 (FOX), the latest chapter of the Jets/Patriots rivalry in Week 7 (CBS), the latest chapter of the Giants/Cowboys rivalry in Week 8 (FOX), the Steelers against the defending champion Giants in Week 9 (CBS), and the Cowboys/Eagles rivalry in Week 10 (FOX).
Other marquee matchups include a 49ers/Saints playoff rematch in Week 12 (FOX) and Steelers/Cowboys in Week 15 (CBS).
On Thanksgiving Day, CBS will air Texans/Lions, and FOX will televise Washington against the Cowboys.
