The final leg of the FedEx Cup did not exactly light up the ratings over the weekend, but still managed a big increase from last year.
Final round coverage of The Tour Championship, the final tournament in the PGA Tour FedEx Cup, drew a 2.2 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon — up 57% from last year (1.4), and up 69% from 2010 (1.3).
The 2.2 overnight is the highest for the final round of the event since 2009 (3.3), when Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods finished first and second, respectively, and Woods clinched the FedEx Cup.
With that said, the 2.2 is also the lowest overnight for the final round of any FedEx Cup tournament this year, trailing The Barclays (2.7), the Deutsche Bank Championship (3.4), and the BMW Championship (2.6).
On Saturday, third round action also drew a 2.2 overnight — up 100% from last year (1.1), and up 83% from 2010 (1.2).
