It was the top NFL telecast window of the day — at least in the metered markets — but Sunday’s NFL national window suffered a decline for the second straight week.
The Week 3 NFL national window, featuring Texans/Broncos in 64% of markets, earned a 14.9 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon — down 6% from coverage featuring Packers/Bears on FOX last year (15.8), but up 5% from coverage featuring Colts/Broncos on CBS in 2010 (14.2).
Though down from last year, the telecast earned the highest overnight rating of the day. NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” finished a close second with a 14.3 overnight.
Earlier Sunday, regional NFL action including Chiefs/Saints earned an 11.4 overnight — up 20% from coverage featuring Giants/Eagles on FOX last year (9.5), and up 9% from coverage featuring Titans/Giants on CBS in 2010 (10.5).
