The Miami Heat’s historic winning streak has been a boon to Sun Sports.
Monday’s Heat/Celtics NBA regular season game earned a 12.2 rating on Sun Sports in Miami, the highest rating ever for a Heat regular season game on the network. The record rating came despite competition from the national telecast on ESPN, which averaged a 5.3 in the market.
Heat games have averaged an 8.7 rating on Sun Sports during the team’s 23-game winning streak.
To put the numbers in perspective, the Blackhawks’ top rating on Comcast SportsNet Chicago during their 24-game points streak was a 7.9. With that said, a single ratings point in #3 market Chicago equals far more television homes than in #16 market Miami-Ft. Lauderdale.
So far this season, Sun Sports has averaged a 6.43 rating for Heat games — up 27% from the same number of games last season (5.08).
