One of the highest-profile names in sports broadcasting was charged with DUI on Friday night.
Lead NBC NFL play-by-play voice Al Michaels was arrested Friday night and charged with misdemeanor DUI, CNN reported Sunday. Michaels, who police said was “very cooperative,” spent five hours in a California jail before being released.
Michaels is scheduled for a late June court date.
According to a statement on NBC’s Pro Football Talk blog, NBC is “aware of the situation” and has “been in contact with Al,” but otherwise has “no further comment.”
Arguably the greatest living NFL play-by-play voice, Michaels has been the voice of primetime NFL football on broadcast television for 27 years.
