A pair of TSN “SportsCentre” anchors are heading to the U.S., and all indications are that they will join Fox Sports. In other news, ESPN NBA analyst Flip Saunders is headed back to the league, and “SportsNation” host Charissa Thompson is reportedly on the move once again.
“SportsCentre” Anchors Headed to U.S. TV
- Canadian sports network TSN has announced that “SportsCentre” anchors Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole are leaving the network and “heading to Los Angeles for exciting new broadcast opportunities on U.S. television” (TSN, 5/3). Prior to that announcement, Toronto Sports Media reported that Onrait and O’Toole will join Fox Sports, whose studio programs are located in Los Angeles. Keep in mind FOX is launching a new daily studio show — “Fox Sports Live” — on the new Fox Sports 1 network. (TSN and Toronto Sports Media, via Twitter)
Saunders Heading Back to NBA
- ESPN NBA analyst Flip Saunders is leaving the network to become the president of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Saunders, who had been a frequent presence on “SportsCenter,” joined ESPN in November. (Associated Press)
Thompson on the Move Yet Again
- The Big Lead reported Thursday that ESPN “SportsNation” co-host Charissa Thompson is leaving ESPN for Fox Sports. Thompson, whose previous career stops include “Shaq Vs.” on ABC, the NHL on Versus, and a previous stint with Fox Sports, joined ESPN in 2011. The Big Lead did not specify what kind of role Thompson would have on Fox Sports, but it is reasonable to assume she would contribute to Fox Sports 1 in some way. (The Big Lead)
