The Blackhawks/Red Wings series has not been a record-setter for NBC Sports Network, but has pulled in strong numbers nonetheless.
Game 3 of the Blackhawks/Red Wings second round Stanley Cup playoff series drew a 1.0 U.S. rating and 1.6 million viewers on NBC Sports Network Monday night, the network’s ninth-largest audience for a second round game.
The game also ranks as the second-most viewed of the playoffs on NBCSN, just shy of Rangers/Bruins Game 1 on Thursday.
Locally, Game 3 drew a 12.27 rating in Detroit and an 8.47 in Chicago.
On Sunday night, the double-overtime Game 3 between the Penguins and Senators drew 1.4 million viewers on NBCSN — cable’s most-viewed second round game to involve a Canadian team since Sharks/Maple Leafs Game 7 on ESPN in 1994 (1.7M).
In Pittsburgh, the game drew a 25.6 rating — the market’s highest rating ever for a second round game on the network.
