Television viewership for the 2013 Confederations Cup has increased on both Univision and ESPN.
Through Thursday, the Univision family of networks averaged 1.8 million viewers for coverage of the Confederations Cup, up 496% from the comparable point of the 2009 event.
Thursday’s Brazil/Mexico match drew 2.7 million viewers on Univision, the second-largest audience of the tournament so far on Spanish-language TV.
Meanwhile, ESPN averaged a 0.4 U.S. rating and 549,000 viewers through Monday (four matches) — up 33% in ratings and 36% in viewership from 2009 (0.3, 403K).
The network’s top match of the opening weekend was Italy/Mexico on Sunday (0.5, 771K).
