NBC Sports Network will undergo yet another name change, though this one is nominal at best. In other news, NBCSN will launch a reality series next week, and an analysis of ESPN’s “SportsCenter” found that the usual suspects attracted the most attention.
NBC Sports Network to Rebrand as NBCSN
- Starting next year, the NBC Sports Network brand name will be discontinued and replaced by the abbreviation NBCSN, Awful Announcing reported Friday. The rebrand, which will reportedly take place by next year’s Winter Olympics, should result in minimal change for viewers — NBC Sports Network began using the NBCSN abbreviation during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. NFL, Not Surprisingly, Most-Covered Sport on “SportsCenter”
- In an analysis of last year’s 11 PM ET editions of “SportsCenter,” Deadspin found that the NFL (23%), NBA (19%) and Major League Baseball (17%) were by far the most-covered leagues.
