Silver Leaves Yahoo! For NFL Media
- Yahoo! Sports NFL writer Michael Silver has joined NFL Media as a columnist for NFL.com, the league announced Wednesday. Silver, who will also contribute to programming on the NFL Network, is the latest big hire for NFL Media. Earlier in the summer, former New York Times writer Judy Battista signed on as an NFL.com writer and NFL Network contributor. (NFL Communications)
Philbin Says FOX Contract Ends After Super Bowl
- Fox Sports 1 host Regis Philbin told The New York Times that his contract with the network is only for five months. Philbin: “It ends after the Super Bowl.” Despite Philbin’s claim, a Fox Sports executive quoted in the piece said there is “no short-term contract.” (The New York Times)
ESPN to Hire Whitlock
- The Big Lead reported Wednesday that ESPN has hired Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock. Whitlock, who worked for ESPN until 2006, confirmed the news to Deadspin.
