Despite making the national championship game last year, Notre Dame did not get off to a great start in the ratings.
Saturday’s Temple/Notre Dame college football game drew a 1.6 overnight rating on NBC, according to ShowBuzz Daily — down 24% from NBC’s first Notre Dame telecast last year (2.1), and down a third from the 2011 opener (2.4).
The 1.6 overnight is the second-lowest for a Notre Dame opener on NBC since at least 1997, ahead of only Nevada/Notre Dame in 2009 (1.3).
Temple/Notre Dame was outdrawn head-to-head by regional action on ABC (2.2).
