Fox Sports continued its strong start to the NFL season during Week 3.
The Week 3 NFL singleheader window, featuring Packers/Bengals, earned a 12.5 final rating and 20.9 million viewers on FOX last Sunday — up 12% in ratings and 14% in viewership from coverage featuring Buccaneers/Cowboys last year (11.2, 18.4M), and up 9% and 11%, respectively, from coverage on CBS in 2011 (11.5, 18.9M).
For the second straight week, the singleheader window on FOX had a higher rating and more viewers than NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” (12.2, 20.5M).
So far this season, FOX has averaged a 12.8 rating and 21.6 million viewers for NFL coverage — up 10% in ratings and 12% in viewership from last year (11.6, 19.3M), and the network’s best three-week average since acquiring NFL rights.
All four NFL telecast windows on FOX have improved over last year, and three of the four have increased over the comparable windows in 2011.
