Even the least interesting Wild Card game of the weekend managed to attract massive numbers.
The Chargers/Bengals AFC Wild Card game drew an 18.9 final rating and 30.9 million viewers on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 4% in ratings and viewership from Colts/Ravens last year (18.1, 29.6M), and up 9% and 11%, respectively, from Falcons/Giants on FOX in 2011 (17.3, 27.7M).
Chargers/Bengals ranks as the highest rated and most-viewed early Sunday Wild Card game since 1995, when Patriots/Browns earned a 22.0 and 31.6 million.
Locally, the game earned a 42.9 rating in Cincinnati and a 38.8 in San Diego.
