Ratings and viewership slipped for the PGA Tour’s Texas Open last weekend. In other news, NBC earned its highest rating for an indoor hockey game in more than two months, and Thursday’s clash between the Spurs and Thunder did well enough for TNT.
Facing NCAA Tourney, PGA’s Texas Open Down
- Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Texas Open earned a 1.6 U.S. rating and 2.2 million viewers on NBC last Sunday, down 11% in ratings and viewership from last year (1.8, 2.5M), when the event did not face NCAA Tournament coverage. Third round action the previous day had a 1.2 and 1.7 million — even with last year. (Weekend numbers from Sports Business Daily)
NBC Earns Best Indoor NHL Rating Since January
- Last Sunday’s Bruins/Flyers NHL regular season game earned a 0.8 U.S. rating and 1.3 million viewers on NBC, flat in ratings but up in viewership compared to Blackhawks/Red Wings last year (0.8, 1.1M), and the top indoor NHL game on NBC since Bruins/Blackhawks in January (1.0, 1.6M). Spurs/Thunder Decent For TNT
- Thursday’s Spurs/Thunder NBA regular season game earned 1.9 million viewers on TNT, up 84% from Bulls/Nets last year (1.1M), and up 39% from Knicks/Magic in 2012 (1.4M). The same match-up aired on the comparable night last year, but as the late game of the doubleheader — earning virtually the same number (1.93M last year, 1.94M this year).
