The USA/Mexico soccer rivalry was not quite as hot as usual Wednesday night.
Wednesday’s United States/Mexico men’s soccer friendly earned approximately 4.9 million viewers on UniMás and ESPN, down 15% from their previous meeting in September (5.8M), and down 30% from their meeting last March (7.0M).
The match had the smallest combined audience for the USA/Mexico rivalry since August 2012 (4.8M).
Univision provided the bulk of the audience for Wednesday’s match, as 3.9 million viewers tuned into the UniMás telecast. According to Univision, UniMás outdrew ESPN by 259% (1.0M).
