The ACC basketball title game is moving to Saturday night. In other news, college football’s Alamo Bowl is getting a new date, and the Chicago Blackhawks have extended their local TV deal with WGN.
ACC Hoops Title Game Moves to Saturday Night
- The championship game of the ACC men’s basketball tournament will move to Saturday night beginning next year. ESPN will televise the game at 8:30 PM ET, replacing the Big 12 Championship Game in that timeslot. The move will likely put the ACC in direct competition with the Big East title game on Fox Sports 1. (post-gazette.com)
Alamo Bowl Gets January Date
- The Alamo Bowl is scheduled for January 2 this season, marking just the second January date in the bowl’s history. The game will air at 6:45 PM ET on ESPN without any competition from other bowl games. (alamobowl.com)
Blackhawks, WGN, Extend Deal
- The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to a media rights extension with local station WGN through the 2018-19 season. WGN will continue to air “about 20” Blackhawks games per season, with the rest either on Comcast SportsNet Chicago or NBC. WGN began airing Blackhawks games in 2008.
