Though down big from last year’s game on NBC, the fourth game of the Stanley Cup Final did well for NBCSN.
Game 4 of the Kings/Rangers Stanley Cup Final earned a 2.8 overnight rating on NBCSN Wednesday night, down 39% from Blackhawks/Bruins Game 4 on NBC last year (4.6) but up 65% from Devils/Kings Game 4 on NBCSN in 2012 (1.7). The 2.8 overnight is the third-highest ever for a Stanley Cup Final game on NBCSN, trailing only Games 2 and 3 of last year’s Bruins/Blackhawks series (2.9 and 3.1, respectively).
The 2.8 overnight is tied as the second-highest for a Game 4 over the past decade, trailing only last year and matching Lightning/Flames on ABC in 2004.
Locally, Game 4 earned an 8.1 rating in New York — up a tick from Game 3 and the market’s second-best rating for an NHL game on NBCSN. The game drew a 7.3 in Los Angeles, up 14% from Game 3 (6.4) and the market’s best ever for the NHL on NBCSN. Game 4 of the 2012 series, which the Kings also entered up 3-0, earned a 6.6 in the market.
Buffalo (5.1) was the top neutral market, followed by Boston (4.2) and Philadelphia (4.1).
