After the Stanley Cup Final hit an albeit inflated high in Game 2, a move to NBCSN resulted in a series-low for Game 3.
Game 3 of the Kings/Rangers NHL Stanley Cup Final earned a 2.5 overnight rating on NBCSN Monday night, according to Sports Business Daily — down 19% from Blackhawks/Bruins last year (3.1) but up 79% from Devils/Kings in 2012 (1.4). The 2.5 overnight is, unsurprisingly, the lowest of the series.
The Game 3 overnight declined 46% from Game 2, which aired on NBC immediately after The Belmont Stakes (4.6). The decline mirrored the 40% drop from last year’s Game 1 on NBC (4.8) to Game 2 on NBCSN (2.9).
Locally, Game 3 earned an 8.0 rating in New York and a 6.4 in Los Angeles. In both markets, it was the second-highest rated NHL game ever on NBCSN.
