Final television ratings were fairly unimpressive of ABC’s college football tripleheader last weekend.
The Tennessee/Oklahoma Saturday Night Football game drew a 2.2 final rating and 3.8 million viewers on ABC, down 27% in ratings and 22% in viewership from Notre Dame/Purdue last year (3.0, 4.8M) and down 21% and 24%, respectively, from Notre Dame/Michigan State in 2012 (3.2, 5.0M).
Despite the lower numbers, the game earned the second-highest rating and viewership of the week for college football on any network. Only Georgia/South Carolina did better (4.1, 6.8M). Head-to-head, Oklahoma’s win topped Purdue/Notre Dame on NBC (1.9, 3.1M) and UCLA/Texas on FOX (1.6, 2.6M).
Arkansas/Texas Tech earlier in the day earned a 2.1 and 3.3 million viewers, up a tick in ratings and 4% in viewership from Tennessee/Oregon last year (2.0, 3.2M) and up 11% and 21%, respectively, from regional action in 2012 (1.9, 2.7M). The game ranked third for the week.
Finally, regional action in the Noon ET window drew a 1.9 and 3.0 million — down 30% in ratings and 29% in viewership from UCLA/Nebraska last year (2.7, 4.2M) and down 30% and 22%, respectively, from Cal/Ohio State in 2012 (2.7, 3.8M).
