The Purdue/Notre Dame college football game drew a 1.9 final rating and 3.1 million viewers on NBC last Saturday night, down 27% in ratings and 20% in viewership from Oklahoma/Notre Dame in the afternoon last year (2.6, 3.9M) and down 14% and 15%, respectively, from Miami/Notre Dame in primetime two years ago (2.2, 3.7M).
The game ranks as the lowest rated and least-viewed primetime Notre Dame telecast on NBC since a 2011 game against Maryland (1.3, 2.1M). Of the ten primetime games on NBC dating back to 2009, only the Maryland game and a 2009 game against Washington State (1.4, 2.3M) drew lower numbers.
Head-to-head, Notre Dame’s win finished behind the Tennessee/Oklahoma Saturday Night Football game on ABC (2.2, 3.8M) but topped UCLA/Texas on FOX (1.6, 2.6M).
