It was not the top game of the week, but Saturday’s top ten clash between Michigan State and Oregon still did well for FOX.
The Michigan State/Oregon college football game drew a 4.0 overnight rating on FOX Saturday night, up 111% from West Virginia/Oklahoma last year (1.9), up 67% from Nebraska/UCLA in 2012 (2.4), and the network’s third-highest overnight ever for a non-bowl college football game. Only the Big Ten Championship Game in 2011 (4.3) and 2013 (8.4) did better.
With conference championship games excluded, Michigan State/Oregon ranks as the top non-bowl game on FOX in the metered markets. The previous high was a 3.5 overnight for USC/Oregon in November 2012.
Saturday’s game finished second for the week among college football telecasts, trailing only USC/Stanford on ABC earlier in the day (4.6). Head-to-head, it finished comfortably ahead of Michigan/Notre Dame on NBC (3.0) and Virginia Tech/Ohio State on ESPN (2.9).
