The third tournament of the FedEx Cup was fairly weak draw over the weekend.
Final round coverage of the BMW Championship, the third leg of the PGA Tour FedEx Cup, drew a 1.5 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon — down 42% from 2012 (2.6) but up 50% from 2011 (1.0). Last year’s final round was rained out; Sunday coverage drew a 0.9 overnight.
The 1.5 overnight is the lowest for final round coverage of any PGA Tour tournament since the John Deere Classic in July (1.2). Overnights have now declined for all three final round FedEx Cup telecasts this season, with the first two hitting six year lows.
Third round action on Saturday drew a 1.4 overnight on NBC, down 18% from last year (1.7) and down 22% from 2012 (1.8). The 1.4 is the lowest since coverage in 2011 drew a 0.8.
