ESPN earned its top college football overnight of the season for Saturday’s SEC clash between Tennessee and Georgia.
The Tennessee/Georgia college football game drew a 3.1 overnight rating on ESPN Saturday afternoon, the network’s highest college football overnight of the season. The previous high was a 2.9 for Virginia Tech/Ohio State in week two.
The Bulldogs’ win topped last year’s comparable Oklahoma State/West Virginia game by 61% (3.1 to 1.9), according to ShowBuzz Daily.
Saturday’s 3.1 was the second-highest overnight of the weekend for college football on any network, trailing only ABC’s regional window later in the afternoon (4.0). It was also the top SEC overnight of the weekend, finishing ahead of Arkansas/Texas A&M on CBS (2.8).
In other ESPN action, Missouri’s upset of South Carolina drew a 1.9 overnight Saturday night — down 21% from Mississippi/Alabama last year (2.4). The Oregon/USC late night game drew a 1.8.
