The SEC on CBS was once again the top college football telecast of the week in the overnights.
The Florida/Georgia game drew a 4.0 overnight rating on CBS Saturday, up 18% from the same matchup last year (3.4), up 100% from Mississippi/Georgia in 2012 (2.0), and the top college football overnight of the week on any network. The Gators’ upset win edged the week’s second-place finisher, Auburn/Mississippi on ESPN (3.8).
Head-to-head, Florida/Georgia topped regional action on ABC featuring TCU/West Virginia by 54% (4.0 to 2.6). TCU/West Virginia, it should be noted, was the site of ESPN’s College Gameday.
The SEC on CBS has now tied or earned the top college football overnight in six of the past eight weeks. Regardless of network, the SEC has at least tied the top mark in seven of ten weeks.
In other college football action on CBS, the primetime Notre Dame/Navy game drew a 2.4 overnight on Saturday — good enough to top both Saturday Night Football on ABC (2.1) and Stanford/Oregon on FOX (1.7), but no match for the previously mentioned Auburn/Mississippi game on ESPN.
Finally, the early game between Air Force and Army drew a 1.5 overnight.
