From the no surprise department, Fox Sports earned its best ever college basketball audience for Mike Krzyzewski’s 1,000th career victory.
Last Sunday’s Duke/St. John’s college basketball game drew a 1.4 final rating and 2.2 million viewers on FOX, marking the highest rated and most-watched such telecast ever on a Fox Sports network. Keep in mind that Fox Sports is in its second season carrying games, with the FOX broadcast network having aired just five telecasts to date.
Krzyzewski’s milestone victory topped all other college basketball telecasts for the week. Ranking second was Kentucky/South Carolina on ESPN Saturday afternoon (1.3, 1.9M), followed by Wisconsin/Michigan on ESPN later that day (1.1, 1.7M) and Indiana/Ohio State on CBS Sunday afternoon (1.1, 1.7M).
Head-to-head, Duke/St. John’s finished comfortably ahead of both Indiana/Ohio State and Louisville/Pittsburgh (1.0, 1.6M) on CBS. Compared to ABC’s concurrent NBA doubleheader, it trailed both Heat/Bulls (1.8, 2.6M) and Thunder/Cavaliers (2.8, 4.2M).
