Despite a classic comeback, the NFC Championship Game could not match last year’s comparable Brady v. Manning clash.
The Packers/Seahawks NFC Championship Game drew a 29.1 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon, down 1% from Patriots/Broncos on CBS last year (29.5), but up 12% from 49ers/Falcons on FOX in 2013 (26.1). Compared to last year’s 49ers/Seahawks NFC title game, which aired in the late window, the 29.1 marks a 6% decline from a 31.0.
The 29.1 is tied as the third-highest for the early Conference Championship game since at least the 1998-99 season, matching Ravens/Patriots in 2012 and trailing both Patriots/Broncos last year and Bears/Packers in 2011 (30.0).
Packers/Seahawks topped the Colts/Patriots AFC Championship Game on CBS later in the day (24.2), marking the first time since 2009 that the early Conference Championship game has topped the late window.
