Thursday Night Football is staying put on CBS next season.
The NFL has picked up its option for CBS to continue producing Thursday Night Football next season. As was the case this past season, half of the sixteen-game package will be simulcast on both CBS and NFL Network, with the remaining games airing on NFL Network alone.
The schedule will also remain the same, with fourteen Thursday night games and two on a Saturday.
Though there is no shortage of potential suitors for the Thursday Night Football package, it may be yet another year before the rights return to the open market. The NFL can exercise another one-year option to extend the deal to the 2016 season.
