After his arrest, Greg Anthony will not appear on CBS for the remainder of the college basketball season.
CBS announced Saturday that Anthony has been suspended indefinitely and will not return this season, hours after he was arrested in Washington, DC, on a solicitation charge. Anthony was in town to call Saturday’s Michigan State/Maryland game for CBS, and will be replaced by Jim Spanarkel.
Anthony has also been suspended indefinitely by Turner Sports, where he works as an NBA studio analyst for NBA TV and a game analyst for TNT. Turner’s statement did not mention whether Anthony would return this season, leaving open the possibility of a comeback.
Even if Anthony returns to Turner Sports this season, it is unlikely he would be part of CBS/Turner Sports’ joint NCAA Tournament coverage.
The suspensions bring to a halt the most successful stretch in Anthony’s broadcasting career. He was entering his second season as the lead game analyst for college basketball on CBS and was a candidate to serve in the same position for the NBA on TNT.
