Ratings and viewership were the highest in three years for the NBA’s All-Star Saturday Night.
NBA All-Star Saturday Night earned a 3.4 U.S. rating and 6.1 million viewers on TNT, up 10% in ratings and 7% in viewership from coverage opposite the Olympics last year (3.1, 5.7M), up 3% in both measures from 2013 (3.3, 5.9M), and the highest rated and most-watched edition of the event since 2012 (3.6, 6.2M).
The telecast earned the fourth-highest rating and viewership in the history of NBA All-Star Saturday Night, trailing only 2012, 2009 (3.9, 6.6M) and 2011 (4.4, 8.1M). It ranked even higher in the metered market overnights, tying the second-best mark in that preliminary measure (4.4).
Coverage peaked at a 4.2 and 7.8 million viewers from 10:45-11 PM ET, up 14% and 16%, respectively, from last year’s peak quarter-hour — also 10:45-11 PM (3.7, 6.7M).
Cleveland was the top market for Saturday’s telecast, with a 7.9. Atlanta ranked second (7.7), followed by San Antonio (7.4), host city New York (7.2) and Portland (6.1). The 7.2 in New York is the market’s highest ever for the Saturday night festivities.
