With a cushy timeslot and broadcast TV exposure, the Big Ten Championship Game again topped the Championship Week charts.
The Wisconsin/Michigan State Big Ten Tournament championship game drew a 2.6 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 8% from Michigan State/Michigan last year (2.4) but down 13% from Ohio State/Wisconsin in 2013 (3.0). The 2.6 is tied as the second-lowest for the title game since 2008, matching 2009 and ahead of only last year.
The Badgers’ overtime win was the top college basketball game of the weekend, topping the Notre Dame/North Carolina ACC title game on ESPN Saturday night (2.3). Head-to-head, it doubled the SMU/Connecticut AAC championship, also on ESPN (1.3).
Last year’s game had tougher competition, airing opposite the SEC title game (2.1).
Compared to other sports, the title game topped the Rockets/Clippers NBA game on ABC (2.2) and the PGA on NBC (2.4), but trailed NASCAR Sprint Cup racing on FOX (3.8).
