A shift from Sunday afternoon to Saturday night translated into only a slight uptick in overnights for the ACC Championship game.
The Notre Dame/North Carolina ACC Tournament championship game drew a 2.3 overnight rating on ESPN Saturday night, up a tick from Virginia/Duke last year (2.2) and up 44% from Miami/North Carolina in 2013 (1.6). The title game aired on a Sunday afternoon prior to this year.
The 2.3 marks a 92% increase over last year’s Big 12 championship (1.2) and a 10% increase over the 2013 Big East championship (2.1), both of which aired in the same Saturday night window.
Notre Dame’s win earned the second-highest college basketball overnight of the weekend, trailing only the championship of the Big Ten Tournament on CBS (2.6). Head-to-head, it topped the Big East title game on Fox Sports 1 by two full ratings points (0.3).
