The final day of the NHL season was no match for the English Premier League on NBC.
Regional NHL action featuring Wild/Blues earned a 0.5 overnight rating on NBC Saturday afternoon, down a tick from Flyers/Penguins last year and Devils/Rangers in 2013 (0.6 both years), and possibly the lowest overnight ever for an NHL game on broadcast television.
The 0.5 is certainly the lowest of the season on NBC, falling well below the previous mark of 0.8.
Saturday’s telecast earned a lower overnight than the English Premier League on NBC earlier in the day (0.8) and barely topped the championship game of the NCAA Frozen Four on ESPN later in the night (0.4). Keep in mind that it faced tough competition from the third round of The Masters on CBS (6.5).
