Overnights declined substantially for NBC’s afternoon NHL playoff coverage over the weekend.
Game 6 of the Wild/Blues Stanley Cup playoff series drew a 1.4 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon, down 39% from Blues/Blackhawks last year (2.3) and down 44% from Bruins/Capitals in 2012 (2.5). NBC did not air games on the comparable weekend of the 2013 postseason.
The 1.4 overnight is the lowest for the window — late Sunday afternoon on the second weekend of the postseason — since Coyotes/Red Wings in 2010 (1.3).
On Saturday, Game 6 of Capitals/Islanders drew a 1.3 overnight — down 24% from Red Wings/Bruins last year (1.7) and down 13% from Capitals/Bruins in 2012 (1.5).
As previously reported, Saturday night’s Predators/Blackhawks Game 6 drew a 1.8 overnight. There was no comparable window in previous years.
