The final game of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals had a slight increase in overnights on TNT.
Game 4 of the Hawks/Cavaliers NBA Eastern Conference Finals earned a 5.0 overnight rating on TNT Tuesday night, up a tick from Spurs/Thunder last year (4.9) but down 23% from Heat/Pacers in 2013 (6.5). Compared to Pacers/Heat Game 4 on ESPN last year, overnights declined 4% from a 5.2.
The 5.0 overnight is the lowest for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals since at least 2008. The last time Game 4 was a possible series-clincher was 2010, when Magic/Celtics drew a 6.2 overnight on ESPN.
The Cavaliers’ series-clinching win earned a 35.9 rating in Cleveland, the market’s highest ever for an NBA game on TNT. The previous record was a 32.0 for Sunday’s Game 3. In Atlanta, the game had a 9.0 rating — down 11% from Game 3 (10.1). After Game 1 of the series drew a 15.4 in the market, ratings declined for each successive game.
The full four-game series averaged a 5.2 overnight, up 8% from the first four games of Spurs/Thunder last year.
