An overtime Game 7 involving the nation’s top market unsurprisingly did well on NBCSN.
Game 7 of the Capitals/Rangers Stanley Cup playoff series drew a 2.3 overnight rating on NBCSN Wednesday night, the network’s third-best NHL overnight outside of the Stanley Cup Final.
The Rangers’ overtime win also earned the highest overnight of the postseason on any network, topping the previous mark of 1.8 for Predators/Blackhawks Game 6 on NBC in the first round.
Locally, Game 7 had a 9.3 rating in New York — the market’s highest ever for an NHL game on NBCSN. The previous mark was an 8.5 for Rangers/Canadiens Game 5 in last year’s conference finals. The game also had a 7.9 rating in Washington D.C., matching the market’s highest on NBCSN. Keep in mind Game 7 overlapped with a Wizards playoff game on TNT.
