Overnight ratings for the NBA Draft matched last year’s record.
The 2015 NBA Draft earned a 3.1 overnight rating on ESPN Thursday night, even with last year and up 19% from 2013 (2.6). The 3.1 matches last year as the highest for the event since it moved to ESPN in 2003. Overnights peaked at a 4.2 from 8-8:15 PM ET.
Prior to last year, the high water mark on ESPN was a 2.7 for the 2003 NBA Draft.
Louisville was the top market for Thursday’s telecast with an 8.5 rating. Four Kentucky Wildcats were taken in the lottery, matching the record for a single school. Philadelphia was the top NBA market (5.0), tying Greensboro for second place overall.
Indianapolis (4.7) and Raleigh-Durham (4.6) rounded out the top five.
